I just got a new 7800 GS video card for my aging agp system. Since I installed it I am getting random screen resizing and flickering. Worked fine with my old 9700 pro. Anyone have this problem before?

I have done all the usual, updated bios, drivers, uninstalled, reinstalled etc...

BFG is about to send me a new card, but I have a hunch its not the card.

Actually it could possibly be a power supply issue, the new Nvidias are power hungry

Your PSU should be at least a 400w

or maybe its breaking down under load

Just bought a new Enermax Liberty 500 watt psu...the 12v rails are rated at 22 amps, more than enough to power the 7800 GS. I even have it mounted to its own power cord with nothing else on the rail.

Have my old 9700 pro installed and the problem is still here, must be either the monitor or the cord, hope its the cord!

Update:

RMA'd the 7800 GS to BFG and just got it back in 5 days, thats a good thing as Martha says....

Installed it and isolated the VGA cord to the monitor, behind my desk is a spider web of cords, and the VGA cord had gotten twisted around some other signal, usb and electrical cords...I think that was the problem. My monitor has a built in VGA cord, (NEC FE991), I don't think it is top quality or shielded.

So, short story long...it works fine now...moral of the story, "Don't I feel stupid!!"

The techs at BFG said that there is a memory problem on some...rma'd it just to be safe.

BFG = Best F*cking Guaranty in the business. Which is because they have the worst quality control?!?!?

The boards aren't even made by BFG, all they do is slap a fan on top, overclock it and voila!!

OK so I am not so stupid....the monitor is fekin up again and its not the cord, or the vid card....

Its an NEC and they have propietary parts for their monitors, so you can't get them fixed locally, beware when you buy NEC. You have to ship it to one of two locations in the US...$70 each way, plus $75 labor, plus parts!!

Unfortunately the best LCD monitor out there right now is an NEC...argghh, just when I thought I was out!, they pull me back in......

*sigh* ordered a new NEC 90GX2....
